The dance competition program Street Woman Fighter (SWF) created a "K-dance syndrome" by highlighting the field of female dancers that have not been well known to the public. Since the first week of the broadcast, it has ranked No. 1 in popularity indexes. It also gained syndrome-class popularity, with various parodies pouring out. Fan cams of dancers appear, and the dance of the mission song Hey Mama is creating a challenge craze in being covered by not only several celebrities but also the public. In addition, the Street Woman Fighter on the Stage concert tour, which starts on November 20, was sold out as soon as reservations began.

SWF determines the rankings and dropouts according to the score while members of eight teams check each other. These compositions of the actual SWF itself is not much different from the existing competition programs. Nevertheless, unlike the existing one, which was remembered only for being in first place, SWF paid attention to the process itself through missions. In this process, a dancer, who was recognized for a supporting role to make the singer shine, was set up as the real main character on the stage. This created a situation in which the fandom of dancers was created by the production team.

[Overseas viewers' reactions]

[Japan] "The composition and direction of SWF are tremendous. The performance of talented dancers is also very good."

[China] "SWF is my favorite variety show of the year."

[America] "I’m surprised that there’s an amazing program like this!"

SWF received favorable responses from viewers for showing different moves from what is seen in the previous survival programs. Lee jeong of YGX, who was pointed out as the weak one in the battle, said, "I'm the weak one? I've never been an underdog," expressing her confidence. Although it would have been taboo in past competition programs, it is considered one of the best SWF quotes. In addition to shows of confidence, maturity was shown by dancers as they accepted the results of the competition. Gabee of LACHICA said, "When have I been loved like this? I have no regrets because I did my best." The candid remarks have become famous for their mature acceptance of the results.

SWF received favorable responses from viewers for In addition, the cast cited the honest and confident appearance of the dancers as the secret to the popularity of SWF. Honey J of Holy Bang said, “Unlike famous celebrities who have to manage their images, we did not have anything to lose, so we did not have to act pretentiously.” In this respect, viewers felt that it was fresh, thinking that they were not celebrities who felt distant, but people who seemed familiar.

Messages and experimental attempts by those who use dance have moved from the commercial area to the art area. The dance performances with more of a message showed off its influence on the public. As a result, it made people of all ages, including those who were prejudiced against dance, fall for it. It did not stop as a topic of conversation that briefly sparkled and quickly faded as just another form of quickly forgotten entertainment, but it also worked toward correcting the biased gaze against dance. Viewers have also raised the level of watching broadcasts to one of enjoying culture by exchanging various opinions on the stage.

Nevertheless, SWF has faced criticism. In the guest participation mission, people complained that it could have only been a fight for the number of views using the fame of celebrities who participated as guests, rather than being a competition centered on dance. In addition, doubts were raised about the choreography for the new songs of the singers on the stage, where dancers should be the main characters. However, the results were able to quell public criticism. Celebrities only contributed to maximizing the charm of the dance. The choreography for Jessi’s new song, which focused on dancers and dances, not singers, drew favorable responses from people.

In the existing survival audition, only the ones who came in first place are remembered, and the rest are forgotten. However, viewers became less interested in winning or losing as the characters who appeared in SWF expressed themselves. Critic Jung Deok-hyun said, "SWF presents survival games like the movie Squid Game, but the dancers admitted that they were the best on their own, resulting in a reversal of the survival structure." Only one word "Backup" was erased from “Backup Dancer”, but a new world unfolded. A variety of stages are expected to begin with SWF, which has created a meaningful first of its kind.
