On August 21, the Romanian national news agency Agerpres reported that the Romanian Department of Health decided to provide South Korea with 450,000 doses of Moderna's vaccine on humanitarian grounds. This is because when COVID 19 was spread all over the world in 2020, the Korean government donated Korean medical devices to Rumania.

To be specific, the Korean Embassy in Romania requested cooperation to import diagnosis kits and other quarantine supplies such as protective clothing and medical devices in March last year. In response to the request, the Korean government responded positively by exporting diagnosis kits. Thus, Romania could make an agreement with South Korea to import Korean kits within three days of the request.

Due to this background, Romania is willing to give South Korea 450,000 doses of Moderna's vaccine. The Korean government is planning a way to give the Korean quarantine supplies corresponding to Romanian’s support. In addition, the government is considering various solutions such as vaccine swaps and foreign aid to solve the uncertainty of the vaccine supply.
