From Thursday, May 13 to Sunday, May 23, 2021, Social Innovation Capstone Design team of CUK, 3M held a project “It’s all right(괜찮아요 프로젝트)” at the Sangsang Market Customer Center in Yeokgok. Large discount stores and others began to ban plastic bags in 2019, but it did not apply to small merchants such as traditional markets. For this reason, team 3M began this project with pre-cycling to not make garbage.
The activity of this project is to use a shopping cart or multi-use container instead of a plastic bag at Yeokgok Sangsang Market, and send the proof shot like the picture above on the open chat room of this project.
The project was carried out in four ways. The first is to bring alternative materials (multiple containers, cloth pouches) from home. Second, using the market-sharing shopping basket service. You can rent replacement materials, not plastic bag for free. Shopping baskets were placed on the 1st floor of the market customer center, making it easy to rent. The third way is to bring a shopping basket from home. The last way is to rent a cart in the market. Participants can choose one of these four ways.
Students who hosted the event said they wanted to deliver messages that “It may be uncomfortable, but if you take a little risk, you can reduce waste.” They also told students who participated in the event, "Everyone who participated is precious and we are grateful! If we and many other people continue to be interested in reducing, we will be closer to reducing the use of plastic bags."
